To Be
Sounds like a gym problem.
In these uncertain, tech-heavy, and politically charged times, fills us with doubt, skepticism, and anxiety. Constantly questioning, unsure, and searching for answers. This leaves us feeling lost, exhausted, and disillusioned, constantly chasing after the next book, meme, reel, or story, stuck in an endless cycle.
We’re left with no clear direction—no plan—feeling hopeless. We can't decide who we want to follow or whose rules to adopt.
Like the campers in the Book of Numbers, we fall into three categories:
"I" rule the trip.
The "trip" rules.
The Creator of the trip rules.
Each day, I have a choice:
I can think that I control the trip—that if I can manage the world around me, control how I react to the the weather, and control the people in my life, I can make everything work in my favor and others can respect, adore and admire me. Drawing power from myself, creating my own happiness and believing that the best path is the one I choose.
Or
I can choose to believe that the "trip"—the world around me—rules me. I can idolize the things I see, smell, hear, taste, and feel, thinking they hold all the answers. Chase after fleeting moments of excitement in new reels, memes, or videos, believing that sensory overload will fill the void. Drawing power from natural things, people or man made vows and gods.
Then
There’s the last, often overlooked choice: yielding to the Creator of the trip, accepting His plan, and trusting His guidance.
The campers in Numbers didn’t want to accept their camp leader Moses, or his God given itinerary. Sadly, God couldn’t do much to change their hearts. He had to wait for them to finally succumb to the odds.
The truth is, every day on this "camping trip" we call life, is a chance to sift through our thoughts, words, and actions, letting go of the doubts and emptiness that come from living without Christ.
If you want a toned body, you should spend time in your local gym. The same holds true for your trip today, if you want peace and joy today, then you will need to spend time with the Camp Leader, Jesus.
So, what do you want to do today and everyday?
Do you want to take the hand of the One who Loves you First for your journey on earth?
Do you want to yield to His plan and turn away from your own way?
Do you want His help, His care, His friendship, His rules?
