Camping with the "Son of Man"

Ever listened to someone tell larger-than-life stories about an action hero? That was Mark. Bringing good and exciting news and recording it in the new Testament of the bible to influence all "unbelievers" with his gospel, and if you ever wish to share the Good News with someone who doesn't yet believe, then the Gospel according to Mark is ideal

Mark uses the word “immediately” 41 times and “follow me” 21 times. That repetition emphasizes the urgency of action needed.

He presents Jesus as a "Man of Action". He made sure his readers saw Jesus as the Son of Man— a man of flesh and bones, the miracle worker man, the man of the hour, the man who steps in and steps up, a man like Abraham a man like Moses.

Mark also captured the disciples' “final exam.”  An exam paper with only one question: "Who do you say I am?" And after all the miracles, after walking among the gods of that time and important men, they passed the exam with flying colors which they were so proud of,  confirming that Jesus is the Son of the living God. Jesus quickly humbly reminded them  that, it is our Father who gives us those “aha” revealing moments, causing triumph in our hearts.

Today still Jesus leave tracks to follow wherever He goes..

After a call from my niece, I suddenly fell into a pit of sadness and despondency. At first, I couldn’t understand why I was so deeply upset. I looked around—was something on my desk bothering me? Then I looked inward. I immediately traced the feeling back and realized it started after our call.

But she didn’t sound sad. Why wouldn’t she tell me what was in her heart? I thought.

Having experienced something like this before, I redialed her number. Gently, I asked about the sadness I'd felt. I was so grateful when she admitted that her heart was broken, and we could pray and joy could follow.

But what if there are no tracks to follow?

Totally in love a beautiful young lady, called once asking if I would pray for confirmation—whether this true love was truly worth pursuing. And our King responded immediately with insight.

That night, I dreamt of two hyenas devouring the remains of a roasted lamb, leaving greasy remnants from my pillow all the way to the front door. Ants followed the trail, chewing at everything in their path.

I shared what I believed our First Love was revealing in this dream, as Jesus shone His light on double cowardice—how it leaves behind residue and trails of unclean, unhealthy thoughts in her heart, mind, and body. You could practically smell these stinky hyenas and feel the greasy leftovers, along with the overwhelming task of cleaning up the ants.

The news was disappointing, but she faced the fact that this cowardice should get out of her heart and life. And with this revelation and lots of courage confronted the handsome chap. He admitted that he had been exploiting her heart as an emotional escape, hoping to rekindle a past relationship. As he was still deeply in love with someone else.

Oh, how wonderful is our Action Man Jesus—the Son of Man, the King of the Earth, the One who loved us first!

How deep His love. How immediate His care. He follows us —wherever we are.

Let us, then, follow the tracks of His love in our everyday lives—and put His love into action.
