Grey hairs

Grey hair has always been so appealing to me, especially when it’s paired with grace, style, or a touch of funk. In recent years, grey hair has become fashionable, with young people coloring it platinum. But for me, the inspiration comes from a portrait of "vibrant life," no matter the age.

This week’s discussion revolved mostly around thought patterns and the age-old concept of taking every thought captive in obedience to Christ.

Oh, how wonderful it is that our loving King gave His life in such a horrific, torturous way so that we could take control of our thoughts. We have the power to shape our past, present, and future. We are free from the perspectives that weigh us down, leading us toward depression and despair.

A viewpoint can’t change unless I first write it down, dissect it to uncover the root, and sift through the pain of His sacrifice to find the life and benefits it brought. Only then can I transform every thought into a portrait of "vibrant life."

Experience has taught me that most viewpoints stem from orphan thinking, which reinforces the lie that I am an orphan—without a First Love, without a Father, alone, unworthy, and shameful.

Last night, I had a dream where I was joyfully dancing with a group of elderly ladies. In the midst of the peaceful playfulness, I recognized a thought in my heart: "How wonderful it is that I can just be myself and don’t have to perform. I don't need to prove anything to anyone… how calming and peaceful that thought is."

As I reflected on my dream, I realized how deeply orphan thinking needs to be replaced. It showed me how I still perform, even when I don’t need to. It also conveyed the true value of everyone’s role in society, especially the elderly. Grey hair symbolizes not only knowledge and wisdom but also a steady hand, tranquil joy, and an existence free from constant performance.

After church, a few elderly ladies and I enjoyed Wimpy lattes together. I could sense that we were “dancing” together without the need to perform for one another, and it instilled a new thought pattern in my heart. Before me were true love carriers—women so full of their First Love and unpretentious friendship, waiting for opportunities to meet the needs of all generations. Grey hair that knows what’s most important in life: to love unconditionally, just as they are loved by their First Love.

"Oh, how I love my new grey hair as it grows—hair that reflects unconditional love.
